Margaret Woodley
Margaret Simmonds (nee Woodley)
Although I have no formal musical education training, I have sung with various choirs and groups, including RSCM Voices, for most of my life and have a special love of good modern classical choral music. I started attempting my own compositions when a teenager, but had quite a long break from writing until more recently when I have been fortunate to have had several pieces performed by my local choirs. My church service Preces & Responses were accepted for inclusion in the 2019 London Festival of Contemporary Church Music and at the end of August 2019 two of my newest compositions will be work-shopped by Choral Holidays at their residential singing weekend at Milton Abbey, Dorset.
Whilst I concentrate on choral music (including two solo voice/ piano songs), I have ventured into an instrumental composition for flute/clarinet/piano, comprising 2 variations based on Bach's Prelude No 1 (of the 48 Preludes and Fugues) but transformed into 3/4 time!
I hope you will enjoy looking at some of my music and find something there of interest to include in your own repertoire.
